foldmintA PNG for apps that do not accept WebP
Some editors and upload forms still expect PNG. This tool decodes a still WebP and writes a real PNG, preserving decoded dimensions and transparency. It does not simply rename the extension.
What changes, and what stays
PNG stores decoded pixels without another lossy compression step. Artifacts already present in the WebP remain; conversion cannot reconstruct the original photograph. A 900 × 600 image remains 900 × 600 unless you use the image resizer.
PNG can be substantially larger, especially for photographs. Compare the reported input and output sizes to judge whether compatibility is worth the extra bytes. Choose PNG to JPG when the destination accepts JPEG and transparency is unnecessary.
Animated WebP is rejected instead of silently dropping frames. Limits are 20 MB, 24 megapixels and 16,384 pixels per edge. Color handling follows the browser and most source metadata is not preserved.
