Choose what replaces transparency
PNG supports transparency; JPG does not. This converter places the PNG over a solid background before encoding. White is the default, and the color picker offers another choice. Review semi-transparent edges around logos and cutouts, where the selected color becomes visible.
Quality depends on the image
Start at quality 85 for a photograph. Increase it for detail or reduce it for a smaller download. This is an encoder setting, not a percentage of retained quality. Flat graphics and small text can show artifacts in JPG; keeping PNG may be better.
Decoded dimensions stay the same: a 1,200 × 800 PNG becomes a 1,200 × 800 JPG. The result reports the actual change in file size, which can increase or decrease. This does not remove backgrounds or improve resolution. Animated PNG is rejected and most metadata is not copied. Use images up to 20 MB, 24 megapixels and 16,384 pixels per edge.
