Understand which count a limit uses
Visible characters use Unicode grapheme segmentation when supported. A combined emoji can be one visible character while containing several code points. The separate non-whitespace count reports Unicode code points after removing spaces and other whitespace.
Words use the browser's language-aware segmentation. Counts can differ from a word processor or submission portal, especially with punctuation and compound words. A portal's own counter remains authoritative for its limits.
Lines and paragraphs
Lines follow actual line breaks, not visual wrapping in the text box. A paragraph is a nonempty block separated by a blank line. Two sentences on consecutive lines remain one paragraph until a blank line is inserted.
Live counts support inputs up to 20,000 characters. For longer text, choose Count text; the maximum is 200,000 characters. Copy and download return the statistics, not your original text. The tool does not invent a reading-time estimate or SEO score from these counts.
Processing and sources
Inputs are processed on your device, without uploading or saving them to browser storage. Reset clears the result; downloaded files remain on your device. Website requests and permitted advertising or measurement are separate. See our privacy policy.
