THE SHORT VERSION

From start to saved.

  1. 01

Choose a PDF from your device. It stays in your browser.

  2. 02

Select editable text or page appearance. Convert the document.

  3. 03

Download your DOCX and check it in Word or a compatible editor.

Choose the right conversion mode

A PDF describes a page; a Word document describes editable content. That difference matters when choosing a result.

Mode What you receive Best for
Editable text Selectable text with page breaks and basic formatting Letters, notes and simple text documents
Page appearance One rendered page image per Word page Scans, diagrams and documents whose appearance matters

A practical example

For a two-page letter you want to rewrite, use Editable text. Read through the result, especially line endings and lists. For a signed form you want to place in a report, use Page appearance. Its contents will be a picture, not editable form fields.

Limits to know before converting

The input limit is 20 MB. Editable text supports up to 50 pages; page appearance supports up to 20 pages and renders at a screen-friendly resolution. Complex PDFs can exceed a browser's available memory even below these limits. Large embedded images can also make a DOCX bigger than its source PDF.

Password-protected PDFs are not supported. This tool does not remove access restrictions or validate signatures. Only use documents you have permission to process. Keep your original file and review the result before sharing it.

How the conversion works

Mozilla PDF.js reads the PDF locally. The open-source docx library creates the Word document. File bytes, document text and filenames are not sent with our usage events. The site and any permitted advertising or analytics still make network requests, as explained in our privacy policy.

Need an image instead? Try JPG to PNG. To share a document's existing web link, create a QR code; the QR tool does not host files.

Your privacy choices

The tools work without analytics or advertising permission. Files, document text, passwords and QR contents are not sent with usage events.
